How to add Social Bookmarking to Joomla?

It`s easy. And its free! By using Social Bookmarer Bot you can add Digg, Reddit, Del.icio.us, Facebook, Technorati, Simpy, Furl, and many more Social Bookmarking Icons to your Joomla Site. It is very customizable, allows many new functions and is SEF compatible.

Installing Social Bookmarker Bot

1. Download Social Bookmarker Mambot for Joomla.
2. Install it: Installers>Mambots
   
   
3. Select file> Upload and Install
   
   

Configuring Social Bookmarker Bot

1. Go to Mambots> Site Mambots
   
   
2. Select Social Bookmarker Mambot.
   
   
3. Set it to published.
4. Click on Social Bookmarker Mambot to edit settings. New window opens:
   

We will now set parameters on the right side:

• None - No icons on Homepage.
• Vertical - Will display icons in the upper-right corner of content.
• Horizontal - This option will display icons in the bottom.
• All - This will display horizontal and Vertical icons.

• You can select Regular Content - will show icons on content items.
• You can select Static Content - will show icons only on static items.
• All Content will show on both Regular and Static

Excluding Categories:
In case you don` want to show bookmarking icons in some categories, simply put categories numbers in this field, separated by comas.

Manual Urls:
Turn them on, only if you need to change the URL that the bookmarker buttons point to on a page. This is done by turning on Manual URLs and adding this code to the Intro Text of the content item:

Top Buttons Float:
You can set how the Top Buttons or Vertical Buttons will show on your site. There are two options: Left and Right. You can see our Website aligns Top Button to right (Digg Icon on top of this article).

Alignment of bottom buttons:
The same can be done for bottom buttons, except the bottom ones can also be aligned to center.

Border Color and Width:
Bottom icons can be configured to have border. You can manage some options in these two fields.

Remove duplicate base URL:
Only set this to yes if the plugin is adding an extra base URL to your hyperlinks.

Bookmarker Text:
Text you want to show above the small icons at the bottom.

Select which bookmarking icons you want to appear on your site

Each icon has two settings: Type of icon (small, advanced,...) and button alignment (vertical, horizontal). You can configure each icon to best fit your needs. Some Icons like Digg and Del.icio.us have some special options, so check them out.
