Top Reasons for using Joomla CMS
Here are my reasons for using Joomla:
I had a website, which I created in Dreamweaver and it looked nice. It was a ten page website with basic information.
Then I started adding content. The system I used, was to copy an existing page and change the text, title, keywords and other stuff. Can you imagine how much time it took me to handle those things?
Another thing that I was not comfortable about, was the fact that If I wanted to change a single menu item, I had to do it on 50 pages. At least two hours of work to make everything consistent, and test it in browser.
The same goes with adding advertisements, or some elements that I needed to show on all pages. It was so time consuming that at one point I could only edit my HTML code. There was no time left to add content, writing articles and promote my website.
And then It Hit me!
That`s when I decided to transform my website, and start using a Content Management System. I switched to Joomla . At first, it is like a whole new world. Main difference is that pages are built in real time, with online text editor, similar to one in Miscrosoft Word. You have a really powerful Administration area, where you can edit menus, add content, edit modules and many other things.
Here is what I can do now:
Each time I add content I save time:
When I want to add a new article, I write it in my text editor, and than paste it in Joomla editor. I can edit it online, add images and set keywords. There is no need to upload it. All I need is to click publish. It takes me 10 minutes for what I used to work for a whole hour (if there were no complications)!
Lets say, I find a spelling error in my content. The old way was to open Dreamweaver, find it in code, change it, save it. Open FTP Client, connect to web server, locate files locally and online, upload file and test it in browser. At least 15 minutes. If I found another mistake - here we go again!?!
Do you dare to bet how much time it takes me with Joomla?:) All I need to do, is login to my Online Control Panel, open a file with 3 clicks, change the letter and click Save. I don`t know how fast are you, but I do it in less than 60 seconds.
I can edit navigation (menu items) on the flow:Joomla gives me the power to edit menu items in real time. I can change ordering, publish or unpublish menu items with a single click. What I like the best, is that I can prepare a whole new section of my website, and once I am ready to launch it, I go to Menu Manager and publish it.
Have you ever changed Website Design with a single click......and everything worked flawlessly? I can do it whenever I want in Joomla. It enables me to assign a different desing to each page, or category if I want. And the truth is, everything works flawlessly, because that is the nature of Joomla.
